Mallee Accommodation and Support Program (MASP) congratulates Team Leader – Residential Care Mikhala Lawlor on her nomination for the ResiROCKS 2024 Leadership Award.
ResiROCKS is an annual event hosted by the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare and Residential Care Learning and Development Strategy to celebrate the dedication of Victoria’s residential care workers caring for the State’s most vulnerable children and young people.
Mikhala oversees 45 staff working across three residential care homes, providing direct coaching and supervision, coordinating care teams and working directly with young people to help them achieve their goals and positive outcomes for their care.
“In Mikhala’s seven years working with MASP she has transitioned from a Residential Care Worker to a leadership role and has always championed positive outcomes for young people in our care,” MASP Acting CEO Charmaine Calis said.
“Mikahala is a credit not only to MASP’s Residential Services Team but also to herself in the way she has grown into the role and shaped MASP’s Residential Services’ role in our MASP CARES Therapeutic Model.”
MASP Acting Manager of Residential Services Jack Chirgwin added Mikahala had been integral in boosting staff retention within the Residential Services team to achieve better outcomes for young people.
“Mikhala’s leadership has ensured our young people are comfortable and have that consistency of care, while also ensuring staff members themselves are supported in a way that leads to positive staff retention,” he said.
ResiROCKS will be held on Thursday, October 10 in Melbourne.
