Come and celebrate 30 years of MASP

Mallee Accommodation & Support Program (MASP) will celebrate 30 years of supporting Youth, Housing and Homelessness, Family and Children’s Services and women and children escaping Family Violence in the Mallee and Far West New South Wales in August.

The occasion will be marked with a special birthday function at 400 Gradi on Thursday, August 1, with tickets on sale at this link. Proceeds from ticket sales will be wholly donated to a MASP fund of the purchaser’s choosing – Family Safety, Youth Support, Homelessness Support or Housing Development.

“MASP has been proud to serve the community for the past 30 years, supporting those experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness as well as our vulnerable young people and women and children escaping family violence,” MASP Acting CEO Charmaine Calis said.

“I welcome the whole community to come and help us celebrate the 30 years of work that has gotten us to where we are today, whether you are a former member of the team or board, someone who supported MASP or simply someone with an interest in what the organisation has been doing over the years.”

MASP was established in 1994 following the amalgamation of the Sunraysia Youth Accommodation Project and the Sunraysia Emergency Accommodation Centre (Emmaus House). Since its inception the organisation’s services have grown from homelessness support to include more than 30 programs targeted at youth residential care, out of home care, mentoring, community outreach and social housing, just to name a few. The celebration will feature a walk down memory lane, including photographs and memorabilia of the efforts MASP has undertaken over the years.

“At MASP we are committed to working towards a community free from homelessness, abuse, poverty and disadvantage,” Mrs Calis said.  “On August 1 we will come together to celebrate what we have been able to achieve, but also reaffirm that as our purpose and our vision.”
