Thankyou for your support of National Homelessness Week 2026

Mallee Accommodation and Support Program (MASP) thanks the Sunraysia community for their support of last week’s National Homelessness Week.

Local community members, businesses, schools and other groups generously gave many new household appliances and food items to the drive, with the coin line and cash donations also raising another $290.50 for MASP’s Homelessness Support Fund.

MASP Chief Executive Officer Charmaine Calis said each donation was proof of how much the Sunraysia community supports each other when times get tough.

“It can be so easy for someone to fall into homelessness or housing insecurity, particularly in a tight rental market and with the isolation many in our community already face,” she said.

“For some it can be a choice between a rental payment or food on their plate – so drives like this are crucial to provide that extra support and we are so thankful to the community for getting on board.”

Mrs Calis also thanked the team at River1467 Radio for their efforts in helping run the drive.

“At MASP we shine a spotlight on community issues such as homelessness and housing insecurity, and we appreciate River1467 amplifying that, as well as their community spirit,” she said. “Every little bit helps here on the ground as we continue to do our part in alleviating the stress of homelessness and housing insecurity on our community.”
